JUSTIN GUNAWAN
Justin Gunawan is a young inspirational writer from Indonesia. Born in Perth, Australia, Justin was diagnosed with autism at age two and faced years of communication challenges, intensive therapy, and school rejection.
Although he struggled to speak and write in his early years, Justin gradually found a voice through written words. What began as simple encouragement messages has grown into a writing journey that has touched families, pastors, church leaders, and people walking through difficult seasons.
Justin is the author of Words of Hope and co-author of Voice from Silence, a family story of autism, faith, perseverance, and hope. Through his writings, Justin reminds others that every life has purpose, every child has value, and hope can still speak even through silence.
JASON GUNAWAN
Jason Gunawan is Justin’s older brother and has been part of Justin’s journey from the very beginning. Born in Perth, Australia, Jason has grown up witnessing Justin’s challenges, growth, courage, and unique way of expressing hope through writing.
As a brother, Jason brings a personal and honest perspective to the family’s story. His reflections are included in Voice from Silence, where he shares what it has meant to walk alongside Justin, understand his world, and see the strength behind his journey.
Jason is currently pursuing his university studies in Australia and continues to be an important part of Justin’s support system and family story.
OLIVIA JOSO
Olivia Joso is Justin’s mother and one of the key people behind his developmental and writing journey. From the early years of Justin’s autism diagnosis, Olivia has walked closely with him through therapy, learning, communication challenges, and daily support.
With patience, faith, and deep commitment, Olivia helped create the structure and encouragement Justin needed to grow. She has supported Justin not only as a mother, but also as an advocate who believes every child has value, purpose, and a voice.
Olivia has completed postgraduate studies in autism and is a Developmental Educator Australia. She is also the founder of Special One Ministry, a community that supports families and children with special needs. Her reflections are included in Voice from Silence, where she shares the journey from a mother’s heart.
PHILIP GUNAWAN
Philip works for CBN Indonesia, a subsidiary of the Christian Broadcasting Network, USA, which focuses on Christian broadcasting and community outreach globally. He is involved in their educational initiative, "The Parenting Project," an 11-week module that aims to help parents all over Indonesia. Additionally, Philip also works as a digital marketing consultant on the side. He holds an MA in Biblical Literature and an M.Div from Oral Roberts University, as well as an MBA from Chapman University.
